Skilled biologists at NIVA

The Research Council of Norway has in the course of 2011 carried out academic evaluations of Norwegian biological research communities. NIVA gets positive feedback.

The evaluation focuses on scientific quality and relevance, but issues such as strategy, research management, recruitment and collaboration were also surveyed and evaluated. The evaluation states that:

"NIVA is a large, well run and well-capitalised institute with excellent infrastructure and research that is generally good-to-excellent, especially given the institute’s monitoring mandate and reliance on contracts (…) Staff at NIVA are multi-disciplinary, diverse, skilled, and have sufficient critical mass to be flexible, which together constitute an ideal format for continued success."
