Head Office and Regional Offices

NIVA's Head Office is located at the Oslo Centre for Interdiciplinary Environmental and Social Research (CIENS). We also have four Regional Offices in Grimstad, Bergen, Trondheim and near Hamar, as well as a full-scale marine research station in the Oslo Fjord.

NIVA's Head Office

NIVA's Head Office is in the CIENS building, located at the Oslo Innovation Center, close to the University of Oslo.

Most of NIVA's employees, administration and staff units are located at the Head Office. Located here too are our chemistry and biology laboratories and our central depot for equipment and instruments.

Marine Research Station at Solbergstrand

The Marine Research Station at Solbergstrand performs large-scale experiments in marine ecology, sediment research and aquaculture. We also test technology for treating ballast water. The research station is located in the Drøbak Sound, just south of Oslo.
