Raoul holds a PhD degree from the University of Oslo’s Section for Aquatic Biology and Toxicology and has been working at NIVA since 2018. He is interested in the different ways organisms respond to disturbances of their environment, whether it is naturally occurring or anthropogenic. In a stress ecology-based approach, he strives to evaluate and understand processes on different layers of biological complexion, ranging from molecular effects to population and ecosystem responses. As Post Doc at NIVA’s Section for Ecotoxicology and Risk Assessment, he currently focuses on big data multiple stressors approaches in the cumulative probabilistic risk assessment of complex environmental exposure scenarios within the RCN funded MixRisk project. Within this he also explores the applicability of mechanistic effect modelling as part of regulatory consulting. He is also part of Cefic LRI project SWiFT, where he aids in the construction and development of a Bayesian network to replace acute fish testing as a regulatory requirement. Raoul is passionate about data literacy and statistics and advocates the use of modern, probability based Bayesian methodologies to infer credible information and to account for uncertainty of statistical predictions.
