Research assistant working across NIVAs research sections but focusing within the plastic research team. Currently, researching microplastics and has studied the presence of plastic and microplastics in sediments, water and biota from freshwater and marine environments. DEI has co-authored a number of publications investigating plastics in the Nordic marine environment, including investigating plastic ingestion by Norwegian cod which raised the public awareness and gave push to the microplastic research field in Norway. Most recently he was project manager for microTyre. The aim of the project was to establish analytical methods to identify the contribution of road dust (car tyres, asphalt and road paints) to environmental microplastics. He is currently working within a JPI-Oceans funded project BASEMAN investigating the standardization of microplastic research methods.
