For invitasjon på norsk: Internasjonal minikonferanse

Why this conference? The UN decade for ecosystem restoration starts this year and signifies a new era. Ambitions of the EU Green Deal and Biodiversity strategy towards 2030 demand actions and restoration will be a key component in reaching targets. We will see an unprecedented up-scaling of restoration actions in the coming years, creating an enormous drag for skills that can drive this process, from planners to practitioners and underpinned by science. Nature-based solutions will be implemented at increasing rates to help alleviate the pressure on nature and us humans. The escalation of climate change, the threat to biodiversity and increased risk from pollutants must be met with appropriate measures to secure human well-being.
Our conference has its focus on water; aquatic ecosystems spanning from marine coastal areas to freshwaters including rivers, lakes, and wetlands. We employ a catchment perspective and consider all types of land-uses including cities. The conference is directed towards science underpinning restoration and nature-based solutions more than showcasing hands on examples. We aim to attract natural as well as social scientists, both as presenter and participants.
Where is it going to be? The conference will be held at Oslo Science Park and can be attended in person (maximum number of participants 140) or virtually after what you prefer as a participant. The aim is to have most of the key note speakers in Oslo if possible and broadcast their presentations live. However, given the COVID times we are living in, this might be adjusted as we move closer to the conference as could the maximum number of participants that can be allowed on the premises.
