JERICO-NEXT (Joint European Research Infrastructure for Coastal Observatories) is a Horizon 2020 project (10 million Euro, 2015-2019) that is in its second phase of coastal observatory infrastructure in European seas. NIVA's role in the project is as task and sub-task leaders related to biological and chemical sensor development and ocean observing platforms. This includes development related to contaminants, carbonate chemistry, nutrients, and phytoplankton biomass and diversity on NIVA-operated FerryBox ships of opportunity and at the NIVA Solbergstrand field station in Oslo.
