Summary

As a return visit, after the official visit of Minister U Win Tun 9. – 12. October 2012, Ministry of Environmental Conservation and Forestry (MOECAF) in Myanmar, a workshop was arranged in Nay Pyi Taw on 29. – 30. January 2013; “Workshop on Norway-Myanmar Forestry and Environmental Cooperation” jointly organized by MOECAF, Myanmar and Ministry of the Climate and Environment (MoCE), Norway. Based on this Workshop and established contacts between MOECAF and Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) two visits to Myanmar were accomplished during the working period July – December 2013. Purpose of the visits has been site inspections in the areas in question for the cooperation programme on Integrated Water Resources Management between Myanmar and Norway and planning of the future bilateral cooperation. The programme for assistance from Norway to Myanmar in this field consists of the following 4 groups of activities: • Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in the Sittaung River and the Bago River • Monitoring activities in Inlay Lake • IWRM tools • Establish a national water quality laboratory
