Summary

Water wise cities are cities that work to insure sustainable use of water. The International Water Association (IWA) has proposed 17 principles for Water wise management. At this year’s World Water Congress ideas inspiring these goals where shared through lectures, posters, and exhibitions. This article compromises some of the highlights we experienced as participants, especially ideas and experiences from regional and Nordic counterparts. Our main message is that we have a lot to learn from each other. Most cities have valuable experiences, and by sharing these in conversation and discussion we can inspire each other to develop and improve our own cities into climate-smart water wise urban centers designed for both biological diversity and livability.
