Merete Schøyen works as a Research Scientist at section for Environmental contaminants at Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) in Oslo. She has been employed since 2001 and works primarily within the fields of marine biology. Schøyen has extensive experience related to environmental monitoring. Classification and assessment of ecologic and chemical conditions in accordance with the European Water Frame Directive have recently been key elements in her monitoring projects. She also works with sediment risk assessment and biological effects of TBT in marine snails. She organizes fieldwork for marine research, particularly collection of biota, sediments and soft bottom fauna and she has extensive lab experience. Schøyen mainly works with data management, reporting and presentation. She has been personnel safety representative and head safety delegate (employees’ representatives) at NIVA from 2009 to 2016 and has 12 years of HSE-experience. She was an elected board member of the NIVA concern for 2014-2015 and 2016-2017.
