Camilla H. Corneliussen Hagman has a master's degree in ecology (microbiology) and a PhD in environmental science (limnology) from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU). She has been employed at NIVA since 2007 and is now a researcher at the section for Freshwater Ecology. For several years, Camilla was the curator for NIVA's Algae Culture Collection (now NORCCA) and she has long experience with cultivation of microalgae.
Camilla specializes and has taxonomic expertise in planktonic algae in freshwater and has extensive experience with analyzing phytoplankton in Norwegian lakes in accordance with the Water Framework Directive. In her doctoral work, Camilla used paleolimnological methods and pigment analyzes to study the link between the freshwater alga Gonyostomum semen and environmental stressors.
Camilla's research interests are ecology, climate change and browning of freshwaters in connection with algal issues, and she has led several research projects on the ecology of microalgae. As project manager Camilla currently works with monitoring projects in connection with various emissions to freshwater recipients, and previously with drinking water sources. She therefore has good experience with project work for municipalities, waterworks and industry.
