Summary

The physicochemical functional characteristics of 10 RO isolates from the Nordic countries were correlated with their structural characteristics as well as to key catchement characteristics. These correlations indicate that many spectral properties may serve as proxies for functional characteristics. Furthermore, as the S-deposition decreases we may find more coloured DNOM that is better to adsorb micro-pollutants. The TOC concentration is a key chemical parameter in describing several DNOM characteristics. This may possibly be an concentration artefact on quality parameters.
