Summary

This survey includes a description of the diversity and abundance of aquatic macrophytes in the weir basin Veslefjorden, including a discussion about causes of nuisance growth and possible management methods. The macrophytes in Veslefjorden are dominated by the helophyte Equisetum fluviatile, the isoetid Isoetes lacustris and the elodeids Ranunculus peltatus, Myriophyllum alterniflorum and Callitriche hamulata. The elodeids occasionally develop into large stands which can be problematic for fishing and boating. The reasons for nuisance growth in Veslefjorden are most probably the reduced flow in the river and the stabilized water level in the weir basin. Different management methods are discussed in the report.
