Summary

MODTEQ is a Strategic University Programme (SUP) at NTNU in Trondheim that has mediated the establishment of an interdisciplinary research group working at the interface of marine science and technology. The programme comprises three modules that govern the fields of marine instrumentation platforms, marine biological science and numerical ocean modelling. The synergetic framework of the MODTEQ programme has improved marine R&D procedures through efficient bi-directional communication of scientific issues and technical solutions. It has also provided excellent opportunities for synchronised field testing and model validation surveys. Module 1 represents the technical sector of the marine design spiral in the MODTEQ programme.
