The section carries out pre-treatment and chemical analysis of around 15,000 samples a year from monitoring projects, research projects and other assignments at NIVA. Our work ensures high-quality analysis results, good traceability and timely delivery for many of NIVA’s various projects.
The section consists of laboratory engineers and senior engineers with expertise in chemistry. We are responsible for much of the sample logistics, registration and labelling of samples, sample preparation and analysis of a range of chemical parameters (such as nutrients, metals, physico-chemical parameters and chlorophyll).
National Reference Laboratory
NIVA’s Section for Water Chemistry Analyses is the national reference laboratory for the determination of metals and nutrients in water.
Accredited in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025
Our operations have been accredited in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 since 1993. This means that we have strict requirements regarding quality, traceability and documentation. The accreditation ensures that the analysis results are reliable and can be used with confidence in research, management and environmental monitoring.
