Region West

NIVA Region West is located at Marineholmen in Bergen. The department was established in 1985 and currently consists of 20 employees, most of whom are researchers working locally, nationally and internationally.

At NIVA West, we work with coastal opportunities and environmental challenges, including aquaculture, climate change and ocean acidification as well as climate measures, green transition and sustainability.

The aquaculture industry as a player in coastal areas is central to our project portfolio: clean food from the sea with a reduced ecological footprint, new sustainable production methods, new aquaculture species and new aquaculture concepts.
