Profile
I am an environmental and social scientist with extensive experience in interdisciplinary research that connects economics, social sciences, and environmental sciences. My research focuses on developing nature-based solutions to enhance biodiversity and human well-being in cities. I have particular expertise in the economic valuation of ecosystem services, assessing the relationships between urban green spaces and mental health in rapidly urbanising cities in low- and middle-income countries, as well as developing new methods to analyse the links between biodiversity and human well-being. I have worked and studied in international and interdisciplinary research environments in Germany, Norway, the United Kingdom, and India, and conducted my doctoral research in Nepal. Additionally, I have specialised in environmental law, particularly the rights of nature, and the development of ocean ecosystem accounting in India. I also have experience with expert elicitation processes for addressing coastal pollution. Furthermore, I am an expert in systematic knowledge synthesis, particularly through the use of large language models. I lead the CIENS Artificial Intelligence Network (CAIN), which supports the practical and critical integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning in environmental and social science research.
