Summary

Grow-out Atlantic halibut (Hippoglossus hippoglossus) grows slowly, partly due to limited and varied feed intake. This study aimed to determine gastrointestinal (GIT) evacuation time and examine correlations between GIT filling, transit time, and mRNA expression of appetite-controlling genes. Six groups of 1, 2, and 3 kg individuals were fed a single meal with size-adjusted pellets and sampled 1, 3, 6, 10, 23, 48, 71, 96, and 120 h post-feeding.
