Summary
Saint-Gobain Ceramic Materials AS in Lillesand produces and refines SiC based on coke and quartz sand. Specific limits are set in the discharge permit on suspended solids in the effluent from the refinery. This effluent runs into the municipal sewage treatment system and further to the water body Lillesandsfjorden. Effects of the discharge in the fjord have been monitored in a separate project, and are reported elsewhere.
