Marianne Olsen is Research Director at NIVA and former Research Manager at the Section for Environmental Contaminants. She has a degree in marine biology from the University of Oslo and has a PhD in ecology focusing on mercury contaminated sediments and uptake of mercury in the food chain. Marianne works widely with issues related to environmental contamination, from mapping and monitoring, uptake and bioaccumulation in the food chain to action planning. This includes plastic pollution, and Marianne is involved in plastic projects nationally and in Asia. Marianne has extensive experience as a project manager with responsibility for large research and study projects especially related to industrial pollution, and she has work experience from industry, authorities and research. Marianne has worked extensively with stakeholder involvement, participation and dissemination.
