Thorjørn Larssen is Research Director at NIVA. He has a PhD in environmental chemistry from the University of Oslo and background as research scientist in NIVA on a wide range of topics related to environmental pollution. Thorjørn’s own research deals with how pollutants are released, transported, transformed and stored in the environment. The research forms an important knowledge base for development of policies, regulations and other measures. Important environmental challenges Thorjørn has been working on is plastic pollution in Asia, mercury, organic micro-pollutants, and acid rain. Thorjørn has also been Adjunct Professor in environmental chemistry at the University of Oslo, guest professor at Tsinghua University in Beijing and at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
