Thorjørn Larssen is Research Director at NIVA. Thorjørn has background as research scientist in environmental chemistry and related fields such as biogeochemistry and ecotoxicology. His own research deals with chemical processes in the natural environment, including interactions between the natural environment and pressures on the environment from human activities, interactions between pollutants and the natural environment and chemical interactions between different environmental media. Important environmental challenges Thorjørn has been working on is acid rain, mercury and organic micro-pollutants, and how climate change can influence on mobilization and transport of contaminants. Thorjørn is also Adjunct Professor in environmental chemistry at the University of Oslo.
