Trine Bekkby is as a research scientist at Professor level at NIVA, Section for Marine biology.
The main focus is marine benthic and coastal ecology, variation in space (incl. environmental conditions) and changes in time (incl. effects of climate and human space use changes) - particularly focusing on the biodiversity, structure and function of habitat building species (such as kelp forests, seagrass meadows and seaweed beds). Key qualifications include mapping, spatial analyses, GIS and distribution modelling; classification and value assessment - both at local, regional, national and international scale.
Bekkby has been working as a researcher since 2001 and has been leading several national and international projects. At present she is the project leader for COASTFRAG (in the impact of habitat fragmentation and loss on coastal ecosystems) and is work package leader in SeaBee - Norwegian Infrastructure for drone-based research, mapping and monitoring in the coastal zone (both funded by the Research Council of Norway). She has several supervision, teaching and evaluation tasks.
