Profile

Trine Dale is a marine biologist with training in plankton ecology (PhD). Dale is presently section leader for NIVA's Aquaculture section. She has been employed as a researcher in the section for Aquaculture since 2007 with sustainable aquaculture as a specialist field. This includes topics such as the farming of invertebrates, effects of nutrients release on pelagic and benthic ecosystems, effects of salmon farms on the spawning behavior of wild fish, and escape behavior of farmed fish. She is also interested in the relationship between environmental factors (e.g. hydrography, algae and jellyfish blooms) and production, health and welfare of fish in cages.

She has a lot of experience with monitoring projects aimed at the aquaculture industry, including monitoring of harmful algae, and bottom impact (authority-mandated MOM-B and MOM-C surveys). She has broad experience as a project manager and project employee, an experience that includes both basic research, applied research and consultancy. The projects have been in collaboration with both public authorities and industry.
