Dr. You Song is an experienced experimental ecotoxicologist, bioinformatician and Adverse Outcome Pathway (AOP) developer. He is currently working as a permanent Research Scientist in the Section of Ecotoxicology and Risk Assessment at NIVA. His main competence and research interests are: ecotoxicity testing, toxicogenomics, bioinformatics, AOPs, combined effect modeling, alternatives to animal testing, in silico prediction models, high-throughput in vitro screening, mode of action (MoA) and risk assessment of pesticides, veterinary medicines, heavy metals, radionuclides, ionizing radiation and emerging contaminants. He has also been actively involved in diverse ecotoxicological research areas, such as bioaccumulation, mixture toxicity, in vitro screening, OMICS and radiation toxicology, and have worked with a broad range of ecologically relevant species, such as waterflea (Daphnia magna), marine copepods (Tisbe battagliai, Calanus finmarchicus), springtail (Folsomia candida), green algae (Chlamydomonas reinhardtii), duckweed (Lemna minor), Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), brown trout (Salmo trutta), Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus), polar cod (Boreogadus saida), zebrafish (Danio rerio) and Indian forest skink (Sphenomorphus indicus). He is familiar with standard regulatory toxicity testing guidelines (e.g. OECD and ISO) and has substantial experience in D. magna, C. reinhardtii, F. candida and zebrafish embryo toxicity testing.
