You Song is currently working as a postdoc and research scientist II in the section of Ecotoxicology and Risk Assessment at NIVA. His postdoc project at NIVA is to develop adverse outcome pathways (AOPs) for endocrine disrupting chemicals using an aquatic invertebrate Daphnia magna as a model. You Song has also been actively participating in a number of research projects and working with a wide range of species, including Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), Brown trout (Salmo trutta), Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus), Polar cod (Boreogadus saida), Zebrafish (Danio rerio), Daphnia magna, marine copepod Calanus finmarchicus, Caenorhabditis elegans, Lemna minor and green algae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. His main laboratory expertise is to perform RNA-based molecular analyses such as transcriptomic analysis using DNA microarrays and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). You Song’s main research interest now is to develop and use various toxicogenomics (OMICS) tools for understanding the toxic mechanisms of environmental stressors and development of AOPs for predictive ecotoxicology and ecological risk assessment (ERA).
