Profile

Kristina Øie Kvile is a marine biologist with an MSc in marine biodiversity and conservation from the University of the Algarve/Azores and a PhD in marine ecology from the University of Oslo. Kristina has expertise within pelagic ecology and environmental effects in marine ecosystems, and has worked extensively with compilation of large and complex datasets, spatio-temporal statistical analyzes and physical-biological modelling. In addition, Kristina has experience from fieldwork in the coastal zone (mapping habitat types) and ocean-going cruises (monitoring zooplankton). Kristina has been employed as a researcher in the section for Marine Biology since 2020, and is involved in mapping and modeling of marine habitats and species, such as kelp forests and eelgrass beds; use of drones for habitat classification in the coastal zone (SeaBee); and restoration of eelgrass beds.
