ENCORE - ENvironmental CO-exposure and Risk Estimation (Cefic-LRI ECO66)
ENCORE is led by Karel Viaene at ARCHE Consulting. The objective of ENCORE is to develop a probabilistic modelling framework for estimation of environmental risk of chemical mixtures in watersheds across Europe.
INOPOL
INOPOL (India-Norway cooperation project on capacity building for reducing plastic and chemical pollution in India) is a collaborative project between NIVA, which leads the project, with MGC as India country lead and several Indian institutions (SRM, CIPET, Toxics Link). The project is part of the Norway-India Marine Pollution Initiative established between Indian and Norwegian authorities in 2019. The project is also part of NORAD’s programme to combat microplastics and marine pollution.

Indo-Norwegian Collaboration Project on Ecosystem Services and Accounting (INECO)
INECO (Indo-Norwegian Collaboration Project on Ecosystem Services and Accounting) is part of the Indo-Norway Integrated Ocean Management and Research Initiative. This is a collaborative project between NIVA and the National Centre for Coastal Research (NCCR, under the Ministry of Earth Sciences) in India. The aim is to develop capacity and expertise for ecosystem services and accounting to support the blue economy and linked ocean accounting in India.
European Topic Centre Biodiversity and Ecosystems (ETC BE)
The European Topic Centre Biodiversity and Ecosystems (ETC BE) is a Consortium of 24 European organisations, led by NIVA and working in partnership with the European Environment Agency (EEA) under a Framework Partnership Agreement for the period 2023-2026. The consortium has expertise in the topic area of terrestrial, freshwater and marine biodiversity and ecosystems. Biodiversity and ecosystems is one of five strategic work areas in the EEA-Eionet Strategy 2021-2030.
Oceans Pact
The Norwegian part of the project, coordinated by UiT The Arctic University of Norway and implemented in collaboration with NIVA, explored conflicts related to offshore wind, offshore aquaculture, and oil and gas activities.
Water Column Monitoring
As part of the monitoring of the water column along the west coast of Norway, NIVA investigated the extent to which the artificial reefs adjacent to the offshore energy facilities affected the availability of food for three types of cod fish - saithe, ling and tusk.
Water Column Monitoring 2024
The potential of offshore wind farms to spread marine alien species: A Norwegian case study and review of current evidence
NIVA have conducted a literature review to summarise the risks of alien marine species being spread by offshore wind activities.
ProWind
ProWind, aims to strengthen Norway’s role in offshore wind and establish a unique national infrastructure for research dedicated to offshore wind. In this NGI led project, the NIVA group will lead the work to develop (and make available for rent) state-of-the-art monitoring technologies for offshore wind focusing on acoustic, visual and oceanographic sensors.

Mikroplast i marine organismer
Plastic pollution threatens soil health in Europe
New research shows that plastic pollution in European soils has reached levels that can affect soil health, crop quality and, at worst, the food we eat.
