Svetlana Pakhomova er laboratorieingeniør i NIVA på seksjon for akkrediterte analysetjenester. Hun har en doktor grad i marine kjemi fra Shirshov Institute of Oceanology og master grad i analytisk kjemi fra Moscow State University. Hun har lang erfaring fra sjøvann- og sediment prøvetaking og analyser (uorganiske stoffer) samt noe metodeutvikling. Forskningen hennes har fokusert på biogeokjemiske prosesser i vann og sedimenter, spesielt prosesser skapt av klimaendringer og menneskeskapt påvirkning mest i oksygenmangel områder. Hun har også erfaring med biogeokjemiske modellering for å simulere prosesser i vann og sediment og prognosere eventuelle endringer med fokus på metaller: mangan, jern, nikkel og kvikksølv. Svetlana har erfaring med microplast analyser (visuell og FTIR) og hun bidro til metodeutvikling av plastanalyse ved hjelp av lomme SCiO og MicroNIR-kameraer.
