Sara Calabrese has been a Research Scientist at NIVA in the Aquaculture section since October 2017. Calabrese received her PhD from the University of Bergen in 2017 on optimization of rearing conditions for Atlantic salmon in closed aquaculture systems. Her primary research focus is on how factors in the farming environment such as water quality effect the physiology and welfare of fish. Calabrese is also involved in several industry contracted projects monitoring water quality, fish welfare and presence of harmful agents such as microalgae and jellyfish in both closed and open aquaculture systems.
