Profil
Adam is working as a researcher in NIVA's section for Marine Biology. He is most interested in understanding the ecological consequences of offshore wind farms, seaweed farms and on developing solutions for nature restoration to aid industries and authorities in reaching biodiversity goals. Adam is involved in several monitoring initiatives, for example he leads NIVAs involvement on the NFR ProWind Infrastructure project to develop offshore monitoring tools, as well as leading a project for NVE on monitoring and managing alien species risk in connection to offshore wind. He is leading tasks in SFI Seaweed related to eDNA monitoring and alien species and KelpWind on kelp genetics. He has expertise in environmental DNA, population genetics and stable isotope analyses and has a storied background in researching anthropogenic impacts to marine population and ecosystem structure and function. Much of his work is inspired from his PhD and post-doc (2019-2023) on investigating eco-evolutionary responses of fish populations to overfishing and coastal degradation over centuries using ancient DNA, stable isotope and morphometric approaches. He continues to be motivated by understanding how long and in which ways humans have impacted marine populations and what this means for restoration. Prior to this, Adam worked for two years for Ireland's Seafood Development Agency where he worked extensively on aquaculture and fisheries impacts and solutions.
