Rolf received his doctorate in 1996 and has since worked with environmental chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, UiO, where he became a professor in 2006. He is a biogeochemist who thrives when he can use his broad knowledge in chemistry in collaboration with researchers from other disciplines. From researching the effect of acid rain on soil and water, he is today more interested in studying the significance of climate change on mobility and transport of substances in the environment. In recent years, Rolf has led several interdisciplinary projects regarding eutrophication and had key roles in research projects on e.g. heavy metals in Asia, Africa and Europe.
