Marianne Olsen er Forskningsdirektør i NIVA og tidligere Forskningsleder på seksjon for Miljøgifter. Hun er utdannet marin biolog fra Universitetet i Oslo og har en doktorgrad i økologi knyttet til omsetning av kvikksølv i forurenset sjøbunn og opptak i næringskjeden. Hun arbeider bredt med problemstillinger knyttet til miljøgift-forurensning, fra kartlegging og overvåking, opptak og bioakkumulering i næringskjeden til tiltaksplanlegging. Dette inkluderer også problemstillinger knyttet til plastforurensning, og Marianne er involvert i plastprosjekter nasjonalt og i Asia. Marianne har lang erfaring som prosjektleder med ansvar for store forsknings- og utredningsprosjekter spesielt knyttet til industriforurensning, og hun har arbeidserfaring fra industri, forvaltning og forskning. Hun har også jobbet mye med involvering av interessenter, medvirkning og formidling.
